This is a brilliant little unit, excellent enough for picture thumbnails and showing food selections and condition messages – its primary function. Turn up the cover to the control board, which is to the right of the scanner cover, and you will find it is equipped with a 45mm LCD. It is also used in the automated printhead positioning process to scan back an examination print. The Contact Picture Sensing unit (CIS) scanner is a single-sheet device but is both peaceful and fast and creates remarkably great pictures. There is no separate paper tray underneath the machine, but the back tray works for ordinary and picture paper.

The PIXMA MP490 is cased in high-gloss light grey and black and very wise it appearances too, when shut.īring up the paper tray support from the back and open up the front cover, which becomes the output tray, and it does not affect appearance quite as excellent but is still very practical.
